چکیده
Abstract Background The independent role of pericardial adipose tissue (PAT) as an ectopic fat associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains controversial. This study aimed to determine whether PAT is left ventricular (LV) structure and function other markers general obesity. Methods We studied 2471 participants (50.9 % women) without known CVD from the Korean Genome Epidemiology Study, who underwent 2D-echocardiography Doppler imaging (TDI) computed tomography measurement for PAT. Results Study more were likely be men had higher cardiometabolic indices, including blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol levels (all P < 0.001). Greater across quartiles increased LV mass index atrial volume 0.001) decreased systolic ( = 0.015) early diastolic TDI velocities, except ejection fraction. These associations remained after a multivariable-adjusted model traditional CV risk factors persisted even additional adjustment adiposity measures, such waist circumference body index. was also only obesity independently velocity Conclusions subclinical structural functional deterioration, these stronger than abdominal measures.

Effect of exercise training and L-arginine supplementation on oxidative stress and left ventricular function in rats with myocardial infarction
Introduction: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of exercise training and L-arginine supplementation on oxidative stress and systolic ventricular function in rats with myocardial infarction (MI). Methods: Four weeks after the surgically-induced MI, 40 male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to the following 4 groups (n=10): MI-sedentary control (Sed) MI-exercise (Ex) MI-...

Extended abstract Echocardiographic Evaluation of Left Ventricular Function and Geometry in Pediatric Patients with Kidney Transplantation Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is an important, leading cause of mortality and morbidity in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) as well as in renal transplant recipients. Cardiovascular complications become more important in children because of the i...
متن کاملPericardial fat, intrathoracic fat, and measures of left ventricular structure and function: the Framingham Heart Study.
BACKGROUND Pericardial fat has been implicated in the pathogenesis of obesity-related cardiovascular disease. Whether the associations of pericardial fat and measures of cardiac structure and function are independent of the systemic effects of obesity and visceral adiposity has not been fully explored. METHODS AND RESULTS Participants from the Framingham Heart Study (n=997; 54.4% women) under...
متن کاملBrown adipose tissue: structure and function.
Within the context of the biology of brown adipose tissue (BAT), a clear understanding of physiological and biochemical mechanisms requires a sound knowledge of the histology and ultrastructure of this fascinating tissue. Recent research interest in BAT has been concentrated on two aspects of its function in the body, namely non-shivering thermogenesis and diet-induced thermogenesis. Both these...

PURPOSE This study was to investigate whether high pericardial adipose tissue (PAT) volume is related to the presence and severity of coronary artery disease (CAD). METHODS Consecutive patients (310 patients) who underwent both dual-source 64-slice CT and percutaneous coronary angiography were recruited into this study. Waist circumference (WC), body mass index (BMI), blood biochemical variab...
